The Journey
EarthBound Apothecary and Acupucture Center is a small company with roots in the land and communities of the Catskills and Mid-Hudson Valley region of New York State. We are a collective of herbalists, gardeners, wild-harvesters, and lovers of the earth who are dedicated to fostering healthy people, plants, and ecosystems.
EarthBound, founded by herbalist and acupuncturist Hillary Thing, spawned in part from Hillary’s desire to bring the usefulness of herbs, herbal medicine, and the pleasures of tea-drinking to her community. It is also an avenue for practicing the principles of sustainable living, a restoration project that can happen one community at a time.
Herbalism is a profound art and time-honored science that can aid physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation. The use of EarthBound herbs and products in our daily life can connect us more deeply to the natural world and to our own true natures.
We obtain as many herbs as possible from local farmers and gardeners who employ organic and sustainable agricultural practices. These include Farm & Granary of Wallkill, NY, the High Falls Chinese Herb Garden, and Hillary’s medicinal herb garden in Accord, NY. Some medicinal herbs cannot be cultivated and must be harvested from the wild. We harvest our herbs from a variety of areas in the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley Region, as well as from Many Oaks Forest Preserve in northern New York.
