What to Expect
Your Initial Visit
The first visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and begins with a comprehensive medical review of past and present health problems as well as a discussion of any other relevant emotional and spiritual issues. Traditional techniques of pulse palpation and tongue observation offer additional information to the final evaluation, which is then discussed with the client. Following the evaluation the client receives an acupuncture treatment performed with very fine, sterile disposable needles.

Subsequent Visits
Subsequent visits last about 1 hour and involve a review of changes since the last session, an acupuncture treatment, and alteration of the herbal prescription as needed. The number of follow-up treatments depends upon the symptom’s duration, severity and nature. Five to fifteen treatments will suffice for most ailments. Severe, chronic, or degenerative disorders may require a longer course of treatment, while acute disorders may take less time to heal.

Community Acupunture
This program is available to anyone who needs natural healthcare at a low cost. The service is the same as the acupuncture sessions described above, except that the treatment takes place in our Community Acupuncture space, a large open room with reclining chairs and a friendly, peaceful atmosphere. Performing acupuncture in this way allows us to tend to more than one patient at a time, and enables us to deliver the same high-quality treatment at a much lower price.

Community Acupuncture is offered at a $15-$35 sliding scale, with an additional $10 paperwork fee for the 1st visit. Please call if you have questions or to make an appointment.

Tui Na Massage
Tui Na is Chinese medical massage. It is used to relieve stress and muscle tension, and to treat injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.

A Tui Na massage session lasts approximately 40-45 minutes and can be geared toward a specific injury or troublesome part of the body, or it can be general full-body massage.

Unique medicinal oils and linaments are utilized to maximize the relaxation or soft-tissue healing effects of the massage.

A Scientific Assessment of Acupuncture
In 1997, the NIH (National Institutes of Health) evaluated the scientific and medical data on acupuncture. Many studies demonstrated an array of beneficial biological responses from acupuncture treatment, both in humans and in animals. These include changes in immune function and blood flow regulation as well as far-reaching effects stemming from activiating the central nervous and endocrine systems. The NIH also recognizes the advantages of Chinese medicine’s holistic approach, safety record, and virtual lack of side-effects. The World Health Organization has identified 104 conditions that acupuncture effectively treats. These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Smoking and other addictions
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Cancer treatment side-effects
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea, constipation, nausea
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Gynecological disorders
  • Immune dysfunction, including HIV+ / AIDS
  • Reproductive and urogenital disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Joint and musculoskeletal disorders
  • Neurological disorders
  • Stress
